Choosing a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle might seem like a bit of an unnerving prospect when there are so many things to consider, such as which Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle to buy and where to buy it from. Luckily, the way to buy one is a little simpler.

Firstly, there is there is the option of paying for the vehicle yourself, with a privately funded purchase, usually using your own funds or through a loan. This way you own it and while, as with all vehicles, it’s monetary worth will depreciate, it is nevertheless an asset that will retain some value. If you want a new Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle, you will buy it direct from the converter.

The second and most popular way is by leasing the vehicle through the Motability Scheme. With this, you pay a deposit (the Advance Payment) and then Motability takes a portion of your Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or Personal Independence Payment (PIP) as the lease payment for your Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle. Through Motability you can have a Nearly New WAV (less than 3 years old) as a more affordable option on a 3-year lease, or a New WAV (brand new) on a 5-year lease.
